The Installation

«Laughing monkey»

«The human superiority over the animals is only obvious to humans»

Once visitors enter the Plexiglas box situated in the middle of the hall, they become the installation, and the monkeys that surround them become the observers. The simian onlookers examine their human subjects from above, expressively displaying their reactions. My intention was to create a representation of creatures that are thoughtful, emotive, and sensitive to the way that we humans place ourselves as the central focus of life on Earth. Though we have distanced ourselves from the natural world, we are still a part of it.
